Hi buzzo13 .. Smiley

Set Windows to show Hidden files and folders
* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Goto START>RUN
Type or Copy/Paste the line below into the Run Box then Press OK:

regsvr32 /u INETREPL.DLL

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

netsync.exe
n20050308.exe
nsvsvc.exe
picsvr.exe
pnzrrk.exe
PowerReg Scheduler.exe

Turn off System Restore WinXP WinME. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

Again ...

Set Windows to show Hidden files and folders
* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

pnzrrk.exe
ktad.exe

Turn off System Restore WinXP WinME. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\pnzrrk.exe

Now delete these Folders or Files that are Highlighted: (You may need enable "Show all Files" and disable "Hide System Files" in Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab) (You may have to boot to "Safe Mode" in order to delete some Files/Folders)

C:\WINDOWS\system32\pnzrrk.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\ktad.exe

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin" and Reboot.

In Xp, here are some locations of Temp files

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Turn on System Restore

Before opening your browser goto START>CONTROL PANEL>INTERNET OPTIONS and make sure your Homepage is correct,if not ,type the URL you would like in the HomePage box.

Now re-run HJT and post a new logfile back here.

It matters not how many times I "fix" the pnzrk.exe file....it comes back every time....

I've attached a directory where I CANNOT erase all the temp internet files....(and i can't see this directory in msdos mode....)it is: C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService  and also has THREE other subdirectories: C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Application Data  AND C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Cookies  AND C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings  - they all have and index.dat file i cannot delete...

here is the current log file....:

Ok buzzo13 .. I want you to Download the program Killbox. Unzip it to it's own folder.
Run the program.
In the bottom right hand corner you will see a drop-down box labelled (System Process.)
Drop that down, and select the active process that is likely to be your main infection reloader.
In your case, that will be: pnzrrk.exe

Once you have selected that file name, click the yellow triangle with the ! inside it to end that process.

Next, at the top of the window, use the folder icon to browse to: C:\windows\system32\pnzrrk.exe

Press the red X button to delete that file.

Do this in regular mode first. If it does not work, try it in Safe Mode, except that the exe will probably not be running as a system process in safe mode, so all you will need to do is delete them.

Run HJT again and post back with a fresh logfile.
