PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:Windows 98
Problem Application Name & Version:Microsoft Word (MS Office 2000 Prof)
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

My system wont load Word - it freezes!
It'll load the other Office Applications - Access, Excel etc
I've downloaded patches from the Microsoft website for Office and Windows, Run all the Norton programmes, increased RAM from 128 to 256, removed programmes from the hard drive.
Could it be a software clash? Any ideas? Help!

Hi,

Could be a macro virus. Did you scan your system with an up to date virus scan?

If so, then your default template "normal.dot" may be corrupted. Search and rename it to "normal.bak"

word.ini file has incorrect references to locations of startup templates. Check it out.
