hi, all. the icon in my system tray for the speaker disappeared, and so did my sound. i went to manage services and set it to windows audio, automatic, and restart but to no avail. please help. thanks, bill.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago... I'm sure it's part of a bigger problem, but this was my quick fix...
type:  http://www.relaxingsoftware.com/sndvol32.exe
into internet browser & save file to desktop.  
Then copy it to C:\Windows\system32 & C:\i386

Most likely, your volume is turned down, but this should give you back control.
At least it did for me...

thanks, bb. i had to d/l the new driver, because i had installed sp2. it's working fine now. i appreciate your help, bill.
