PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: WinXP Pro
Problem Application Name & Version: Belkin F5D7010 Driver Installation
Problem Hardware Make & Model: Belkin F5D7010
Error Messages: None (hangs while loading files)

Hi guys,

I'm having problems installing the F5D7010 PC Card. I had it running fine on my Asus L1 series laptop under WinXP Home, but since I clean-installed WinXP Pro, I haven't been able to re-install the driver. I'm using the latest driver (off the web site), and the PC card is not installed (although I mistakenly left it in the very first time I tried the re-install). Each time I run the driver install, it hangs at 89% setup status, whilst installing "C:\WINDOWS\system32\APCMCIAFIRSTHW..." I sometimes get a 1607 error when ending the tasks through Task Manager.

Each time it fails, I have to do a system restore to an earlier restore point, otherwise it won;t let me run the script. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Are you sure you have administrator privileges?

Hi Geekgirl,

Thanks for the reply. I finally found someone at Belkin Australia that understood the problem. When it hangs, although there is no message, it is actually WAITING for the user to INSERT THE CARD!!! No message, no activity, and it warns you NOT to insert the card until requested by the instructions!

WHY does the utility behave this way? Duh...!?

Thank you very much for your attempt to research this question. I have also found out heaps about problems with InstallShield scripts, etc. It took 2 weeks to discover the answer to this problem, which makes it one of the more intractable ones I have had!

For all of the google bots out there, this was concerning the problem with installing a Belkin F5D7010.

Cheers!
