PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:
Problem Application Name & Version:Windows ME
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

Lately when I receive an email with an attachment, when I click on the attachment, it won't open and I receive this message:  can't read file header...unknown file format.

It appears that all of my attachments go automatically into my Irfanview image program.  Maybe that's the problem, but I have no idea how to make the attachment open elsewhere!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Gere

I went into the email and this is what I see:

C:\Windows\temporary Internet file\Content.1E5\21LF1DCS\Fw_

I guess that's not much help to you!  The name of the file was:
Good Morning, Beautiful!.eml

Now you will see how very stupid I really am!  I have no idea where to look for the information you are asking me for.  I go to the message in Outlook, but what then?

I may be barking up the wrong tree, but I could be onto something.  I downloaded Irfanview last week, and it appears, for some reason, that my email attachments go into it and they will not allow them to open.  I have written to Irfanview to ask for their assistance, but no answer yet.  I will keep you posted.
