Asus A7S333 motherboard
AMD Athlon XP1700
Creative Geforce 3 TI200
Maxtor 80GB
512 DDR ram
350W powersupply
-----------------

I recently upgraded my PC with the ASUS motherboard and was running a 750Mhz AMD Duron processor. Everything worked fine. Then I replaced the CPU with the AMD Athlon XP1700 and now it wont boot.
The CPU fan starts but there is no display on the monitor, no beeps or anything else happening.
I have tried to remove everything and start with just the basics, no changes. I tried the old CPU (750 duron), did not help either.
When I use the 750 duron on another motherboard togheter with the graphic card, powersupply etc. it all works fine. I can't use the new CPU on the old motherboard, it is not compatible.

Does anyone know what the problem is? I have the same problem at work with with another pc. It wont boot. Same thing happening there. I would be gratefull for any help.

I think I have found the problem. The motherboard does not take Throughbred processors. Now the question is could using the wrong processor ruin the motherboard? After all the duron is not working anymore on that MB.
