Laptop seems to have slowed down. Probably my fault cos i've been down loading music & films P2P. Whats the best way of getting rid of spyware these days?

By always giving the OS you use, what specifications you use etc. Else we're a tad in the unknown. Besides, it being a laptop, have you made sure it is being cooled okay; made sure the gratings underneath aren't blocked so cool air can be sucked in?

Sorry about forgetting to putting in all laptop specs.
It's XP sp2.
AMD sempron 3000. 512 DDR.
64mb nvidia graphics.
Like I said, it was fine till I started using shareeza P2P network. Guess I've made a mistake doing that. Is there a simple fix to bring it back to normal speed?

If you download a lot of stuff from the net, besides virus and spyware checks, make it a point to regularly defrag your HD. With file sizes growing larger by the day, there is a lot of pressure on NTFS to store files contiguously. Running a defragger may help speed up the system.
