Hello.  I am having a problem with a Windows 98 computer.  The user complained of lockups, pop-ups, general slow operation and several shortcut icons that suddenly appeared on her desktop.  I ran Adaware SE, SpySweeper, and Spybot.  All found problems and I fixed them.  I rebooted in safe mode and ran all again fixing any problems reported.  I rebooted again in regular mode and ran programs, all came back clean.  I am however still having problems with pop-ups that occur even if IE is not open.  Any suggestions?

There's more to the logfile than your showing us .. Wink

Re-run HJT and POST the ENTIRE logfile from top to bottom .. Grin

Not sure what is happening. Your log shows nothing to explain the pop-ups but of course it is not showing the complete log either.

Lets try a different program

 STARTDRECK

Download  StartDreck

Unzip to its own folder and start the program:
Press 'Config'
Press 'mark all'

Uncheck the following boxes only:
System/Running Process -> List Modules
System/Drivers -> NT Services
System/Drivers -> NT Kernel- and FS-drivers
Press 'OK'

Press 'Save' and select the location to save the log file (default is the same folder as the application)

Post the log in this thread.
