I am using Windows ME, my computer is a 2000 model Emachine. I have 256mb memory. 20g hard drive. I use a cable modem.

When I tryed to install Internet Explorer 6 it says "Setup was unable to  install all components please close all applications and run setup again." then when I do it says another install has been started and you need to reboot. I reboot and it starts all over.  msn messenger will not install either. There is no icon for IE on desktop and it is in the program list but will not start. Says "IExplorer.exe was not found" Anyone have any suggestions?

Goto ADD/REMOVE Programs and either choose Un-install then you can try and re-install or choose Repair .. see if that works.

I have tryed that it doesn't work. It says it cannot be repaired. When I try to just install a component it says to completely reinstall. I have tryed removing IE completely. Then reinstalling. I have resotored computer by using boot **** and  scanreg/restore. My regular System restore will not work right. Never has. MAybe got the memory set too low for it.

Ok If too much of it is corrupted, you can repair Windows ME by installing it over the top of itself. Just run the C:\Windows\Options\Install\SETUP program and it will rebuild all of its program files back to their initial install versions.

Let us know if that works.

I just went and got IE 5 and installed it now everything is working fine except that Media player says it is not configured for the internet. Thanks for all the help. Also Media player will not play .avi files. Says this class not registered.
