PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:Windows XP Pro
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:PNY GeForce 5200
Error Messages:

I have a PNY GeForce 5200 FX card and it has started making some crazy noise lately.  The fan starts making this loud humming.  I can tell it is the VGA fan because when I stop it, the noise is gone.  I tried cleaning the fan and it still makes the noise.  Oddly enough though, after a few cold restarts, the noise will stop.  But if I do not restart it the noise never goes away.  The fan model is an Evercool EC-4010xxxx.  I haven't found anywhere that sells these.  Would it kill the card if i just took the fan off?  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

It would kil the GPU in seconds if you took the fan off, yes. GPUs get very hot!
Yet, if you have warranty on the card, why not send it back with a complaint and ask for a new one? You could of course shop around to see if there's any other fans available for this card.
