PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: Win 2000
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

Upon booting up my autoprotect for NAV 2005 stays on for about a minute then turns itself off.  Also winlogon.exe is trying to access the internet according to zone alarm and I am suspicious it is a fake. I had some very bad spyware/malware infestations for about one day including virtualbouncer and Aurora and I got rid of them using the MS antispyware tool, NAV and Ad-aware.  However, the problem I am describing above will not go away no amtter howmany virus scans and adaware scan I run.. Any ideas?  Attached is my HJT log.  Thanks!

UPDATE: Everytime I reboot Ewido finds some type of spyware, the NAV autoprotect keeps turning itself off, and sometimes when I do a search from my google toolbar what looks like an msn search page window open up as well. And winlogon.exe just tried to access the internet again according to zone alarm. Yuck!???

Hello and Welcome to MyTechSupport.ca

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

You have placed HJT in a Temporary location. Please move to a proper location before doing the fix.
(Always create a Folder for HiJackThis anywhere but your Temp/Temporary Internet Folders or Desktop. A good place to make a folder would be in My Documents, as this is where it will save the backup files needed if there's a problem.)

Download / Install / Update / and Run:
Adaware SE check for any updates before running it.
Get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. You can download it at this SITE
 To run this tool, install to the hard drive, then open Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection.

Download and install Spybot S&D . Run Spybot and click on the 'Search for Updates' button. Install any updates that are available. Next click on the 'Check for Problems' button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the Fix Selected Problems button. Exit Spybot. If you keep getting the DSO Exploit entries, even after you updated Windows and fixed them, then download the Spybot DSO Exploit Fix and install it over the current Spybot installation.

Scan your pc with one of these free online scanners:
Panda ActiveScan
RAV AntiVirus
Housecall.  Be sure to put a check the box beside AutoClean.

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there.  Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it. You will use this later.

Go to My Computer >Tools >Folder Options >View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing / visible. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files option.

Reboot your system in Safe Mode (By repeatedly tapping the F8 key until the menu appears).

Open Hijack This and click on Scan. Check the following entries (make sure you do not miss any)

Okay,

I ran through all these procedures twice  I can't delete nwoglnt.dll due to a sharing violation, even in safe mode. I have even tried using move on boot, and it still will not go. Everytime I boot up I get a warning from ewido that I have the look2me spyware.  It cleans it, but it always comes back. Winlogon.exe is still trying to access the internet and whenever I first open  IE browser after rebooting the computer the nav autoprotect still turns itself off for a while and the browser will not respond, its like some program is accessing the internet.  Thanks for your continued help.  Here is my latest HJT log.

Download  StartDreck

Unzip to its own folder and start the program:
Press 'Config'
Press 'mark all'

Uncheck the following boxes only:
System/Running Process -> List Modules
System/Drivers -> NT Services
System/Drivers -> NT Kernel- and FS-drivers
Press 'OK'

Press 'Save' and select the location to save the log file (default is the same folder as the application)

Post the log in this thread.

Nothing in Add/Remove Programs and no folder in program files under explorer.  It's always trying to access the internet though and oeio.exe also exists in the sytem32 file as well according to zonealarm.

See if MoveOnBoot gets rid of it.

MoveOnBoot allows you to copy, move or delete files on the next system boot. This can come handy if you need to replace or delete files that are locked by other applications, loaded into memory or cannot be changed until next system boot.

The problem is that it shows up only on startdrek, HJT does not show it and the find function does not show it and navigating through the files with explorer does not show it.  I have tried searching in safe mode as well and using hjt in safe mode.  I have made sure that I can view all files, including system files. Since I can't find it I cannot use moveonboot to get rid of it. This thing is nasty! Also, whenever I first boot up and I start my ie web browser it hangs for awhile and then the nav cuts itself off, and then ie will start working again. Thanks for sticking with me through this, I am at my limit of technical knowledge on what to do. Just for fun, here is my latest startdreck log. (What is 'dsls=' mean before oeio.exe?)

Thanks! Amazingly I did not notice startdreck had a delete function.  It looks like I was able to get rid of everything but the web addresses, the delete option is grayed out when I highlight those in startdreck. Is there any other way to get rid of them (the other spyware software programs I have do not get rid of them either)

Updated Startdreck.
