Operating System Version: 2000
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model: Insprion Notebook 4000
Error Messages:none

:(This is the strangest problem I ever seen with a laptop.
With the power cord plugged in, the laptop will shut down after 15 to 20 seconds.  Close lid and reopen unit restarts, than shuts down again.  If I remove power cord and let system operate under battery power all is fine, of course when battery goes low I must plug in power adapter and wait until battery recharges before using again.
Please help

Looks to me like a problem with the power supply itself, or the power socket or power lead. I would take it to a repairer.
