PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: WINDOWS XP Sp2
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

My teenage daughter used my computer for a few weeks, and although my PcCillin caught most stuff, I still have some residual it is denied access to.  ALso, I uninstalled WinFixer but still have folders with the application in it.  Additionally, I have found several folders with applications which generate a message from PcCillin without access to uninstall them via add/remove programs.  (c:\programfiles\180solutions\180searchassisant\saap.exe  and c:\programfiles\180searchassistant\sac.exe;additonal folders under program files which have appeared in the past few weeks:  whInstall, rtrp (application hrsu),   MyWebSearch (uninstalled but there are residual .dlls), and something called illiminable with a subfile "oggcodecs" from www.illiminable.com created 07/15/2005.

Under Common Files, I found C:\Program Files\Common Files\Borland Shared\BDE.  I also found an application: C:\Documents and Settings\tesa jo\My Documents\My Pictures Install-Emotion-Pictures  with no access via add/remove programs.  Thanks!

Download Attachment: hijackthis.txt 8.74 KB
Right click and select Save Target As... then rename the file as shown here and save.

Thanks; things look good so far.  I already have Trend PcCillin; and the log it created only opened in unintelligle shapes.  I tried using different programs, including those provided byPc Cillin.  Panda did not find anything.  Here is the new log for HijackThis:

Download Attachment: hijackthis3.txt 7.06 KB
Right click and select Save Target As... then rename the file as shown here and save.

The MyWebSearch, 2search,180searchassistant and 180searchsolution files are gone.  WhInstall is gone as well.  I just can not find info on rtrp (with application hrsu.exe) and Illiminable (with subfile "oggcodecs" from 222.illiminable.com .  Could it be some kind of game? Or webblog?  THose are what my kids mostly messed with.   Oh - and the "install-emotion-pictures' files is gone as well.  Thank you so much for your help!!!

TrendMicro AntiSpyware utility is a different program from PC-Cillin. It was designed to find & disinfect spyware specifically.

oggcodecs is harmless. It's a multimedia codec for ogg vorbis .

rtrp (with application hrsu.exe) is probably a trojan.

Please visit this website - http://virusscan.jotti.org
Submit hrsu.exe for a comprehensive scan & then post the results back here.

It'll probably come up positive. If so,..

Have HijackThis fix this:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Csua] C:\Program Files\rtrp\hrsu.exe

Then delete the folder - C:\Program Files\rtrp

Run CleanUp after that.

Reboot & post a fresh HJT log

Interesting.  PcCillin had found a 'purity' something and I checked it to be deleted when I ran my spyware portion.  Only two of the engines at the site you referred me to found info --- but hey it only takes one to fix it!!! Thanks again!!

File:  hrsu.exe
Status:  INFECTED/MALWARE (Note: this file has been scanned before. Therefore, this file's scan results will not be stored in the database)

Packers detected:  UPX
Scanner results
AntiVir  Found nothing
ArcaVir  Found nothing
Avast  Found nothing
AVG Antivirus  Found nothing
BitDefender  Found nothing
ClamAV  Found nothing
Dr.Web  Found nothing
F-Prot Antivirus  Found nothing

Kaspersky Anti-Virus  Found Trojan-Downloader.Win32.PurityScan.ab
NOD32  Found a variant of Win32/Adware.MediaTickets application

Yes. Please follow the above procedure for removing the file.

System restore must NEVER be off

We'll clear System Restore's cache once you're clean.
