Hi Wayne,

Check if the PC has a key lock on the front of the PC. It's usually turned by a key. Unlock it and see if that helps.

Hi Ageless, nope! there is no locking device on front of puter. Here is a little more input tho,,it was working when suddenly the monitor went off,she moved puter out to check cables and heard something rattling inside, she opened the case and saw that a memory stick had fallen out (how that happened I`ll never know as they are pretty secure in there especially with the locking tabs)She told me and I went over and checked things out,it is rather loose in the slot actually and once memory stick replaced it made no difference, pc seems to boot ok but no image on monitor, tried another monitor too, later,,she tried the same thing with the stick and the monitor came on but keyboard dead, she tried with the stick removed and same thing so thats where we are at this point. STUCK LOL

Run a Windows Memory Diagnostic Test

The Windows Memory Diagnostic tests the Random Access Memory (RAM) on your computer for errors. The diagnostic includes a comprehensive set of memory tests. If you are experiencing problems while running Windows, you can use the diagnostic to determine whether the problems are caused by failing hardware, such as RAM or the memory system of your motherboard. Windows Memory Diagnostic is designed to be easy and fast. On most configurations, you can download the diagnostic, read the documentation, run the test and complete the first test pass in less than 30 minutes.

You stated the monitor came back on

The memory test is preformed by using a boot floppy. Have you tried another keyboard, didnt see it in your replies. You may have a key stuck.
