PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:xp pro sp2
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:
windows could not start because the  following file is missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system


I have tried to repair this by using set up cd, all I can get is a dos prompt [C:\windows>]
I also tried to use "safe mode" for "last known good configuration"
can you help me?Huh?

Hi GeekGirl, I went to web site got to the dos command, on the second line when I was typing [copy C:\] that is as far as I could get, now I have lost all function of my key board...can i just power off and try another keyboard or what???

I do thank you so much for your advice...I had to unplug everything as we had a thunderstorm approaching..After looking at everything, I did not have enough confidence in myself to do those steps. I just slaved the hd to another pc, copied his "my docs" reinstalled and loaded the drivers back... Thanks again for all the advice y'all hand out!!!
